Communal Cooking

Working with groups convened through SCVS and Race Council Cymru we ran a series of communal cooking sessions with The Shared Plate. We talked about the importance of feelings and memories that food generates while we prepped, cooked and ate together at Swan Gardens. Artists Alan Whitfield and Nazma Botanica collaborated to create a workshop where messages written in morse code on rice paper were added to chapatis. Hiding messages of revolution and love in food was used regularly in Pakistan and India during Partition, and during the Cultural Revolution in China.
