Pattern Project
NylahMAK’s designs are inspired by the patterns and stories she has gathered from different people on the street, representing the diversity of this community. Over many months, she ran a number of community workshops exploring textile patterns, simple print techniques, design, drawing and embroidery. Participants brought treasured personal items which held a connection to identity and learned about each other’s cultures and traditions. The final pattern collection has been brought to life in a series of artworks along St Helens Road. These have been realised in partnership with Fresh Creative Mural Co. and artist Phil Cheater.
